When looking for the perfect location for any session you want to communicate with your client about their wants and needs. It's important to put the client's needs first so that the session can be stress-free and fun! If a client has small children it may be easier to go somewhere closer than a location far away in the mountains. Parking can be another thing to consider as well. There are many beautiful locations with limited parking which can add stress to a session. All of these are things to be aware of when picking the perfect place.

Shoreline Park

This location is a stunning place for both family and engagement photos! With a beautiful open field and pond, you get the feeling of being transported to quaint countryside. This park is located in a residential part of Saratoga Springs. It has extremely easy access with street parking and walking trails. I love this location for families with small children because it's easy to get to and you can go early if need be for bedtime routines.

The Great Saltaire

This location is great for clients who want a beach look here in Utah. The lighting here can be harsh so I would recommend starting the session either at sunrise or one hour before sunset. It is free to take photos here and no permit is required. You will have to pay a $5 parking fee at the marina near the visitor's center. When I have gone here for sessions I have started near the rock formations to get some gorgeous photos and wait for the light to soften. I usually spend about 20 minutes here and then move down to the beach area for the rest of the session. There isn't any shade on the beach area so be prepared to work in direct sunlight. The sun reflects beautifully off the water giving a beautiful background glow.

Little Joe Loop Trail

This trail is located near Park City! It's pretty accessible with designated parking on the road. You can stay on the trail or veer off without damaging the integrity of the plants. With beautiful aspen trees and open fields, this is a gorgeous spot for anything ranging from bridals to family photos. The aspens are especially gorgeous here in the fall with vivid yellow leaves. The trees provide great shade to the open field so the lighting is very easy to work with. I would recommend starting a session about 2 hours before sunset for the best lighting. Being deep in the mountains it's easy to lose lighting quickly. This location is a bit of a drive but definitely worth it!

Orchard at Utah State Hospital

Beautiful orchard located right by downtown Provo. This location not only has an orchard but if you drive up about a quarter mile there is the castle amphitheater. So basically you get two locations for one! There are designated parking lots for each spot so it makes it extremely easy to access. The apple orchards are stunning in all seasons and for the winter season very easy to get to. When going up to the castle it is a completely new vibe with stunning stone masonry that makes you feel like you're at a European castle. There are performances held at the castle amphitheater on the weekends so it's important to be aware and respectful so as not to disrupt the show! Overall a wonderful location with lots of space to capture some great memories!
